The Origins of White Rabbit Candy

The Origins of White Rabbit Candy

If you've ever indulged in Asian sweets, you may have come across the iconic White Rabbit candy—a creamy, milky treat wrapped in edible rice paper. This beloved confection has been a staple in China and beyond for generations, evoking childhood nostalgia with every bite. But did you know that it also makes for a unique and delicious tea flavor? We should know, we made our very own White Rabbit White Tea Looseleaf Blend. Read on to explore its history and how you can enjoy its flavors in your next cup of tea.

The History of White Rabbit Candy

White Rabbit candy traces its origins back to Shanghai in 1943, when a local company, ABC Company, first introduced it as a Chinese alternative to milk-based sweets. Originally known as Mickey Mouse Sweets, the candy was rebranded as White Rabbit in the 1950s and quickly gained popularity across China. With its creamy, vanilla-milk taste and distinctive rice paper wrapping, it became a signature treat for generations.

Over the decades, White Rabbit expanded globally, making its way into Asian supermarkets, international snack stores, and even specialty tea blends. Today, it remains a symbol of tradition, nostalgia, and rich flavors that pair beautifully with tea.

Why White Rabbit Candy Makes a Delicious Tea Flavor

White Rabbit’s smooth, milky taste makes it an ideal inspiration for a comforting and aromatic loose-leaf tea blend. Infusing these flavors with notes of sweet vanilla and creamy milk creates a velvety tea-drinking experience. We chose a white tea base for a delicate tea flavor that wouldn't overpower the milky sweetness of White Rabbit.
